Weezer, is an American rock band that formed in 1992 in Los Angeles, California. Their first gig was the closing act for Keanu Reeves band Dogstar in 1992. They went on to sign with Geffen records in 1993 and their first self-titled album, also known as the Blue Album was released in 1993 and went on to become a four times platinum success with hit songs like “Say it Ain’t So”, “Buddy Holly” and “Sweater-The Sweater Song”. Their second album Pinkerton was released in 1996 and was initially a commercial failure with years later achieving critical acclaim and gaining cult status.
The Band went on a hiatus from 1996-2001 and returned with their third with a new album, The Green Album which featured a new bassist in the band Mikey Welsh who replaced Matt Sharp after the hiatus. Maladroit was Weezer’s fourth album with it’s single “Beverly Hills” topping the US Modern Tracks chart and was included in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. In all Weezer has released 11 albums selling 10.2 million albums in the United States and over 35 million albums all over the world.
