Sir James Paul McCartney was born in England in 1942 and is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. He first met George Harrison while on a school bus when he was a child. The two joined John Lennon’s skiffle group The Quarrymen which would then be changed to the Beatles. After the group disbanded, Paul McCartney continued with his solo career and later formed a band with his and Linda and Denny Laine called the Wings.

He was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both as part of the Beatles and as a soloist. McCartney wrote or co-wrote 32 songs that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and has won 18 Grammy awards as well as an Academy Award in 1970 for best music, original song score for Let It Be documentary with the Beatles. His hits include “Yesterday”, “Blackbird”, “Penny Lane” and “Eleanor Rigby”.
